Turkey: ‘Fatherland’ of Blue Homeland sees Greek plan to ‘invade’ Aegean

“Blue Homeland” inspirer Jihad Yaiji said Greece had a three-stage plan in place in 2017 that would allow it to “invade the Aegean” and that maps presented by Athens to Europe and the US to protest Turkey is part of this plan.

Speaking to Yeni Şafak newspaper, Yaϊc. Countered that “in the face of this plan, Turkey must explain its Blue Homeland doctrine to the world.”

The Turkish admiral claimed that “Athens, which sees the situation as an opportunity, will be in trouble. We must be prepared for any situation.”

Referring to the maps shown by the Greek side in the US and the EU, he commented that “Turkey did not have the necessary reaction to the accomplishments presented by Greece in previous years. Now, Turkey knows its rights and interests at sea. Now, “Turkey started saying ‘I’m right'”.

“The Greeks are trying to respond to Turkey’s diplomatic stance. They think it’s right for the current situation,” he said, noting that while Turkey was preparing for the operation in Syria, it was holding a stance that upset Europe over Finland’s accession. “The Greeks want to take advantage of this situation. The presentation of the American president as ‘Bidenopoulos’ encouraged Greece,” he added.

The retired admiral spoke of a Greek plan to expand its territorial waters in three steps, which has been “running” since 2017. “Now they are trying to implement the plan with these maps. In the first phase, they had decided to increase their territorial but both in Crete and Antikythera, but could not pass to the second stage due to Turkish pressure. Now they will try to pass to the second and third stage. “Antikythera and the Peloponnese. The third step is to increase Greek territorial waters to 12 miles across the Aegean,” said Yaitzi.

“Greece will cause us problems. That is why we must take a very clear stance from now on, we must be prepared for anything,” Yaiji added.

In addition, he announced that Tayyip Erdogan in 2020 had instructed the universities to make the corresponding Turkish “map”, an order that was fulfilled last week.

“Istanbul University has mapped the Blue Homeland as a scientific publication. This map should be given to our envoys and they should inform about the rights of Turkey,” he added.
