Turkey has postponed the supply of the second array of the Russian S-400 anti-aircraft system, as announced by the President of the Turkish Defense Industry Ismail Demir.
According to SKAI, Mr. Demir pointed out that Turkey received the first package and there was a plan for the second, “but the receipt did not proceed because the relevant consultations with Russia were extended in time.”
“Turkey sat at the table for a plan with two arrays (S-400). That is, we did not say we would get one. It was all clear,” he said, adding that after receiving the first batch, we could receive the second immediately. “But there was provision for technology transfer and co-production. As consultations continue, the supply of the second array has been postponed over time,” he said.
It is noted that the two main plans for the Turkish Air Force were the purchase of 100 F-35 fighters from the US and air defense through the Russian S-400. Washington has excluded Turkey from the F-35 program, while Ankara cannot use the Russian anti-aircraft system.
