In the hands of the Turkish authorities is a man who is accused of being a pyrotechnician of the organization Islamic state and was wanted by the United States.
Mustafa Abdullah Mahmoud, born in Egypt in 1999, was arrested along with three other alleged accomplices in Istanbul after fleeing Syria and crossing Egypt, state-run TRT television reported.
A prosecutor, as broadcast by the Athens News Agency, citing Turkish media, drafted the indictment in which he requests a sentence of up to 22.5 years in prison for the suspect for “participation and administration of a terrorist organization”.
According to TRT, the man is an expert in making improvised explosive devices and explosive belts and was planning attacks on Turkey, including against American interests.
He also shared the know-how he had acquired online with other aspirants jihadists in other countries.
The US intelligence service, which was tracking the pyrotechnician, shared information with Turkish authorities that allowed him to be arrested, according to Turkish media.
