THE Elbom started going to her airport Istanbul to catch his flight, but was trapped in his car from 15:00 noon to 02:00 after midnight on Tuesday (25/1). Police released him, along with other people who were trapped inside their vehicles, and first took him to the police station and from there to the mosque. “It was so cold and when I got to the mosque I had to take off my shoes, as everyone does. The carpet was warm and I felt better. I went to the other side of the mosque and people were watching me because of my presentation. I did not talk to anyone, we only communicated with smiles. “It was beautiful,” the 62-year-old rabbi told the Turkish news agency Anatolia.
“I saw some people sleeping in the mosque and I also lay down for an hour on the carpet. When I woke up, it was 5 in the morning. I went to wash my hands and I wanted to pray. Near me I saw five Muslims praying and I went to the other side of the mosque to pray too. “We pray to the same God, so I do not think there is a problem,” he added.
The Israeli rabbi stressed that Jews and Muslims can pray together: “We are children of the same God. It is good to coexist (peacefully), to pray together, to dance and to laugh together “.
