Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, for his part, as reported by Reuters, announced that his country will re-appoint an ambassador to the Jewish state.

“The appointment of ambassadors is one of the steps to normalize bilateral relations. Such a positive step comes from Israel’s side as a result of these efforts and, as Turkey, we have decided to do the same by appointing an ambassador to Tel Aviv,” said Mr. Tsavousoglou.

“We are starting the process of who will be appointed ambassador,” he added, speaking at a press conference in Ankara.

Turkey’s and Israel’s ambassadors in Tel Aviv and Ankara, respectively, were recalled in 2018 after 60 Palestinian protesters were killed in clashes in Gaza.
