Turkey launches investigation into FTX exchange and its founder

According to the Turkish Ministry of Finance, law enforcement agencies of the country have launched an investigation against the founder of the FTX exchange on suspicion of fraud.

As part of the investigation, Turkish authorities seized all local accounts and assets of Sam Bankman-Fried and affiliates. Finance Minister Nureddin Nebati has publicly stated that digital technologies, in addition to the benefits, have also brought new risks. And the cryptocurrency market in general should be approached “with the utmost caution”. According to Nebati, the investigation was initiated by the national Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK).

Following the news of the investigation into Sam Bankman-Fried, a special form for exchange clients appeared on the FTX website. The accompanying statement says that after filling out the form, you need to contact the company’s support. After that, the user’s funds will be returned to his bank account.

On average, about 187,000 unique visitors per month visited the FTX site from Turkey. This is the sixth country in this indicator. Russia was in fourth place with 197,000 visitors, while South Korea was in the lead with 297,000 visitors.
