According to Mustafa Varank, Minister of Industry and Technology, the National Space Program intends to send a spacecraft to the moon by 2023. This will be achieved after perfecting the hybrid rocket system.

The project has been undertaken by the Rocket Engine Ignition Facility of Delta V Space Technologies Inc, which cooperates with the Presidency of the Government and the Ministry of National Defense.

The test of the missile system took place in the presence of Mustafa Varank who was in the control center. A total of two tests were performed. The first was to launch the Hybrid Probe Rocket (SORS) vertical propulsion system, while the second was to launch the hybrid rocket engine scheduled to be used in the National Space Program’s “Hard Landing on the Moon” mission in 2023.

According to Varank, the tests were extremely successful. “These 50-second tests were completed successfully. To date, we can say that we have taken the first successful steps that will lead us to a mission to the moon “.

It is recalled that the Turkish President, Tayyip Erdogan, has also commented on Turkey’s space program, saying that the neighboring country has the ability to transport its own aircraft to the Moon. The space program is part of a 10-year plan that will not only concern the missions themselves but also the commercialization of this capability.

According to Varank, only the engines of the missiles have been tested now, and in the second phase, next May, the flight tests of these missiles are expected to take place in Sinop. As he said, “We believe that in 2023 we can transport one of our aircraft to the Moon by going there for the first time under the Turkish flag.”
