Turkey: Resolution – challenge of the National Assembly to recognize the Pseudocrat of “Northern Cyprus”

With a resolution adopted especially for the 50th anniversary of the invasion of Cyprus, the Turkish National Assembly calls for international recognition of the self-proclaimed “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus”. According to the ERT report, the resolution of the Plenary of the Turkish National Assembly states that “the position to which the Turkish Cypriot State is entitled as an independent and equal sovereign member of the international community cannot be postponed any longer” and it is added: “Despite the constructive role of the Turkish side in the negotiation process that has been ongoing for more than 50 years, no results have been achieved due to the intransigent attitude of the Greek side. While the Greek Cypriots were rewarded with membership in the European Union, the Turkish Cypriots suffered unjust and inhumane isolation, restrictions and embargoes. Turkish Cypriots neither deserve nor consent to this situation.
