Turkey: Shots fired at the headquarters of the Turkish Football Federation

The headquarters of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) near Istanbul was targeted by gunfire today (1/09), with no one injured, local media reported and an official confirmed.

According to the private news agency DHA, seven bullets were fired from outside the building targeting the Federation president’s office as well as a conference room located on the floor below. The perpetrators fled in a car, while no injuries were reported.

The headquarters of TFF is located in Riva, northeast of Istanbul, on the shores of the Black Sea. Omer Çelik, the spokesman for the ruling AKP party, said he spoke with the Federation’s president, Mehmet Buyukesi, after the incident.

The governor of Istanbul, Ali Yerlikaya, said via Twitter that an investigation into the case is underway.
