Turkey summons Greek ambassador to Ankara over PKK protests in Athens

The Turkish Foreign Ministry on Friday summoned the Greek ambassador to Ankara for explanations due to “demonstrations by the PKK terrorist group near the Turkish embassy in Athens”, according to the Anadolu agency.

Christodoulos Lazaris was invited to the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was informed about the reactions of Turkey regarding the presence and activity of terrorist groups in Greece.

Turkey stressed to the Greek ambassador that terrorist organizations “easily carry out their propaganda, financing, but also recruit in Greece”, adding that the identity of Greece as a “safe haven” has increased the presence of people belonging to related circles. with terrorism.

The Lavrio camp was presented to Mr. Lazaris as an example “that terrorist groups that threaten the security of Turkey benefit from all kinds of logistical infrastructure and training opportunities”.

Mr. Lazaris, who was also told that the Lavrio camp has become a hotbed of terrorism similar to the PKK camps in Iraq and Syria, was briefed on Turkey’s reaction and views on the issue due to the action launched by the camp. and turned into an open PKK demonstration around the Turkish embassy in Athens.

Concerns were also expressed during the meeting about the security of Turkish representatives and citizens in Greece, and “the expectation of effective co-operation in the fight against terrorism was stressed,” Anadolu reported.
