Turkey: The coordination center for Ukrainian grain exports opens on Wednesday

The Joint Coordination Center (JCC) for Ukrainian grain exports under the UN-brokered agreement will be opened with a ceremony in Istanbul tomorrow, Wednesday, the Turkish Defense Ministry announced today.

Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and the United Nations signed the deal last week to resume Ukrainian grain exports, which have been in silos since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24. The parties will appoint representatives to the JCC to monitor the implementation of the plan.

The ICC has begun its work in Istanbul, the Russian Defense Ministry said, according to Russian news agencies.

The Russian delegation to the ICC will arrive in Turkey today and begin work in a quadripartite format together with Turkey, Ukraine and the United Nations, the news agencies added.

The Russian delegation to the JCC will be led by Rear Admiral Edward Luik, according to Moscow.

“The main task of the Russian experts at the JCC will be to quickly resolve all the necessary issues for the initiative to enter the stage of practical implementation,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.
