Turkey: The Turkish coronavirus vaccine has been given

Turkey today began delivering the Turkish vaccine against COVID-19, Turkovac, to hospitals across the country, amid a rapid rise in Omicron-type infections.

Turkey has already given more than 130 million doses of vaccines to Chinese Sinovac and Pfizer / BioNTech. He also started taking booster doses.

Turkovac received an emergency license from the Turkish authorities last week, after months of delays.

Daily coronavirus infections exceeded 30,000 this week for the first time since October. The new infections increased by 30% on Monday and exceeded 36,000 yesterday, Wednesday, the highest daily number recorded since April 29.

Health Minister Fahrettin Koca called on citizens to pay their respects.

Koca had a meeting Wednesday with the country’s scientific council on coronavirus to start Turkovac and increase infections after receiving a booster dose of the Turkish vaccine, but said no new restrictions were being considered at this time.

“The rapid spread of the Omicron variant does not cause any change in measures. The importance of individual measures against this rapidly spreading variant has increased significantly,” Kotza said in a statement after the scientific council meeting.

“The Turkish vaccine Turkovac will start to be administered in the hospitals of our cities from Thursday [σήμερα]. It is possible to take the booster dose with our vaccine. “Regardless of what kind of vaccine you have previously given, you can get the booster dose with Turkovac,” he added.

President Tayyip Erdo .an has repeatedly said that his government will make Turkovac available worldwide, but Ankara has not yet provided detailed information on the vaccine’s effectiveness or results from clinical trials.
