An unimaginable story that cannot be contained by the human mind came to light in Turkey. According to a report in the Turkish newspaper Bir Gun, a 24-year-old girl today accused her imam father of marrying her off to a 29-year-old man when she was 6 years old.
The “husband”, as stated in the complaint, was a student of the young woman’s father – he was in the “İsmailağa” sect – and his neighbor.
According to the same complaint, the 29-year-old allegedly was sexually abusive daily stressing her how it was just a… game.
The young woman managed to find the strength and file a lawsuit only in 2020. As she states in her complaint, in 2012, when she was 14 years old, her mother took her to the hospital because of irregularities that her menstruation had presented.
In order to not to arouse suspicion among the doctors and nursing staff, both the minor and her mother reported to the hospital that the child he was 17 years old and had married on her own initiative. But the doctor realized that the girl had been sexually abused and reported the incident to the police.
Years later, the girl said in her statement: “I cried. Qadir said we are married like my mom and dad were married. He said: “You are my wife, I am your husband”. He said: “Married people play such games, but this game is not told to anyone.” My mom and dad called me Kadir “my son-in-law”».
According to the allegations, her mother initially objected. The father is accused of sending his daughter to the apartment of 29-year-old Kadir Istekli when his wife was not at home, where she repeatedly experienced sexual abuse.
When did she realize she had been sexually abused?
The 24-year-old gave birth to her first child when she was 17, and until then she did not realize that she had been sexually abused.
One day he heard a radio show about young girls getting married. Then she realized that what she had experienced was not a game and that she had suffered sexual abuse throughout her childhood.
Nevertheless, he did not have the strength to go against the “customs» of her family. When he turned 18, he officially married. She recounted her experiences to a woman she met on social media, from an account he was secretly using. The woman told her to record her conversation with her husband and file a complaint.
And that’s exactly what he did…
Husband, father and mother were called to testify and claimed that their daughter’s engagement to the “groom” took place when the young woman was 16 years old and the marriage when she was 17 years old and not at the age of 6 years and that she had never been sexually abused.
Ten years after the first complaint, in 2022, the prosecution’s indictment vindicated the abused girl, stating that there was sexual abuse and that the offense of sexually abusing the girl has been committed repeatedly.
