Israel will respond to the “unilateral violation” of trade deals with Turkey by imposing its own trade restrictions, Israel's foreign minister warned, after Ankara decided to limit exports of a range of products to Israel. Israel Katz said Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan is “once again sacrificing the economic interests of the people of Turkey to support Hamas, and we will respond accordingly.” Ankara imposed restrictions on the export of a number of products from today in response to the war in Gaza and in response to the growing anger of the Turkish population over the maintenance of trade relations between Turkey and Israel. “This decision will remain in force until Israel declares an immediate ceasefire and allows the continuous flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza,” the Turkish Ministry of Commerce clarified in a statement.
