Turkish Airlines cancels flights to and from Kazakhstan until January 9

Turkish Airlines announced on Friday that it was canceling all flights to Kazakhstan until January 9 due to “negative developments” in the former Soviet nation, following an outbreak of violence in the country.

Security forces appeared to have regained control of the streets of Kazakhstan’s largest city, Almaty, on Friday, with the Russian-backed president saying he had ordered his troops to shoot “in the air” to quell the uprising. all over the country.

In a statement, Turkish Airlines said its staff in Almaty would be relocated back to Istanbul on Saturday, while other evacuation measures in the capital Nur-Sultan were being assessed.
