Turkish media: Fethullah Gülen in the hospital after a heart attack

The online edition of the Cumhuriyet newspaper, which is close to the opposition in Turkey, reported that Fethullah Gulen suffered a heart attack and was hospitalized.

Gulen lives in exile in Pennsylvania, USA, and Turkey has repeatedly requested his extradition from the US authorities. Recep Tayyip Erdogan accuses the imam of instigating and organizing the alleged 2016 coup in the neighboring country and is one of his main opponents, although in the past they have been close associates and followers of Nejmetin Erbakan’s doctrine.

Cumhuriyet reported that websites close to the Gulen movement, known in Turkey as FETÖ, noted that the imam was admitted to the hospital for regular check-ups and was deemed by doctors to remain hospitalized to better monitor his health condition.

According to other sources, Gülen suffered a heart attack.

Similar rumors appear from time to time in the Turkish media and are usually denied by his aide. Yes, in November 2021, the rumor had spread that the accomplice himself, Turkoğlu had assassinated Gülen and after a while killed himself. A few hours later, Turkiolou came out and denied the rumor.
