Turkish officials: Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi to visit Ankara possibly on November 24th

Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the de facto leader of the United Arab Emirates, will visit Turkey for talks with President Tayyip Erdogan on May 24. countries, which are regional rivals, are seeking to improve their relations.

Turkey and the United Arab Emirates have been vying for influence since the Arab uprisings broke out ten years ago. The two countries support opposing sides in the Libyan civil war and their disputes extend to the eastern Mediterranean and the Gulf.

Erdogan and Sheikh Mohammed will discuss bilateral relations, trade, regional developments and investment, a Turkish official said.

The second official said the visit was “a significant development in improving regional relations and easing tensions”, but added that a final date had not yet been set.

The UAE Foreign Ministry declined to comment. A Turkish presidency communications official was not immediately available for comment.
