Turkish opposition angry at Erdogan: ‘The end is near’ – ‘You can not rule’

Opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu visited Good Party (İYİ) leader Meral Aksener at her party’s headquarters in Ankara yesterday.

Amid a further devaluation of the Turkish pound ahead of a meeting of the Central Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee today, Kilicdaroglu announced that he and Aksener would meet at 4pm “as a matter of urgency on the agenda” and would also hold a joint meeting. .

CHP leader Kilicdaroglu was accompanied by CHP parliamentary group vice-president Engin Altai, CHP general secretary Celine Sage Boke and CHP vice-president Ahmet Akin. Opposition leaders spoke to reporters after the one-hour meeting.

“You can not rule the country”

The CHP leader argued that elections should be held in Turkey as soon as possible. Referring to the economic difficulties recently faced by many sections of society, from shopkeepers to farmers, from retirees to civil servants and workers, the CHP leader stressed that “every day of delay in the elections increases the cost to society.”

Expressing concern about the recent price increases, he said: “We appeal with a political mentality that loves our country and its people and embraces it as our duty to make efforts to solve the problems in a short time: You can not govern the “It’s a pity. It’s a pity. Call elections as soon as possible, let a new government take over and let the country govern properly.”

“No solution other than elections”

The president of the Good Party also expressed her agreement with Kilicdaroglu’s call for urgent early elections in Turkey.

“There is no other solution but elections,” said Aksener. “The end is near. with poverty … ”

Aksener announced that she and Kilicdaroglu decided to meet and cooperate with the financial agents of their parties.

Erdogan met with Bahceli

Earlier in the day, Turkish President and chairman of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader and Gray Wolves leader Devlet Bahεδrçek in εδstanbul.

While different statements were expected from the two regarding the obligation to receive “50 + 1 percent” of the votes for the election of the President, no statement was made after the 45-minute meeting.

Bahceli gave a gift to his political partner one map depicting the “Turkish-speaking world”, during the meeting.
