An independent Turkish radio station, which had been condemned for allowing a guest to refer to the Armenian Genocide in 1915 from its frequency, announced today, Wednesday 10/16, that it will stop broadcasting. Açik Radyo, which has been broadcasting for thirty years and claims to be “open to all voices and colors”, has had its license revoked by Turkey’s Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK). “Atsik Radio’s broadcast will stop from 13:00 (local and Greek time) today,” this Istanbul radio station reported via X. “Atsik Radio cannot be silenced and will not be silenced,” the radio station said in a statement and said it would go to court to overturn this decision.
