Turks harassed the helicopter that transported N. Hardalias – ‘We will always be here’, says the sub. Defense

A new Turkish provocation took place today in the airspace, with harassment via radio of the helicopter that transported the Deputy Minister of Defense, Nikos Hardalias.

In particular, as SKAI reported, Turks sent a message via radio to the helicopter carrying the Undersecretary of Defense who said that the helicopter was in Turkish airspace. The pilots of the helicopter were indifferent and continued their normal course.

The area is controlled by the Athens FIR, while such harassment is systematically carried out by Turkey.

Hardalia statement

Thirty years after the unjust loss of the hero officer, everyday life in the Greek seas, in the Greek skies has not changed. But we will always be here! There will always be the impenetrable wall, built by our Armed Forces, with the universal support of the Greek people. There will always be the indomitable will and determination, which can come from a single soul, the Greek. And that does not change!

This was assured by the Deputy Minister of National Defense Nikos Hardalias from Agios Efstratios where he attended as a representative of the Greek government in the annual events of honor and remembrance for the fallen in the performance of the duty of Hero Lieutenant (I) Nikolaos Sialmas in island.

The events were co-organized by the General Staff of Aviation and the homonymous municipality. Nikolaos Sialmas was born in 1965 in Thermo, Etoloakarnania. He entered the Icarus School in September 1984 and graduated in June 1988 with the rank of second lieutenant.

A 342nd All-Weather F-1CG All-Weather of the 114th Fighter Wing (Tanagra) crashed in the sea area south of Agios Efstratios on 18 June 1992 while carrying out an interception mission in the southern part of Agios Efstratios.
