Twenty-three European bodies, including KEFIM, in favor of freedom and independence of Ukraine

A letter of support for the freedom and independence of Ukraine and the struggle of the Ukrainian people against the Russian invasion is currently being signed by 23 representatives of European civil society organizations and think tanks, including the Center for Liberal Studies – Markos Dragou, through the president of Alexandros Skouras.

“Many classical liberals dedicate their professional lives to making our societies freer, fairer, and more prosperous. We are fighting against bad ideas that would impoverish our neighborhoods, we are fighting against populists who would like to see them institutions of our liberal democracies, and we formulate ideas for a world where personal value and moral values ​​based on the ideas of freedom will contribute to a better life for all. ”

Representatives of the reservoirs of thought add: “While the battle of ideas is necessary for the foundation of a better future, all progress can be lost in a few moments. We can build the most freedom-oriented societies, to promote the best possible “Regulatory reforms, and the implementation of the most successful tax models – but if our society is attacked by an authoritarian tyrant, then all our efforts can be thwarted.”

In particular, “Ukrainian cities are under siege. Peace has a price. Our Ukrainian friends are paying the highest price today. But we can not let them bear all these costs on their own. Imperial-type aggression in the 20th century led to horror beyond imagination. “We can not repeat the same mistakes today in Europe, and that is why we must take every economic and political measure to avoid this risk,” said the authors of the letter. In this treaty, however, we believe that Europe and the free world must work together to impose broad economic sanctions on the Russian regime and completely isolate the invaders politically. “Otherwise, the generations to come will rightly accuse us that while we knew the value of everything, we did not know the value of anything.”
