Michael Burns, vice president of Lionsgate, stated on Tuesday (5) that the company will expand its portfolio and launch an animated series from the “Twilight” saga and another series from the “John Wick” universe.
During the technology, media and telecommunications conference from Morgan Stanley, the executive confirmed the information published by the Deadline portal in April 2023.
“We are going to launch the Twilight series, an animated series, I think there will be a lot of interest in that” said Burns.
At the time the information was published, there was also an indication that Stephanie Meyer, author of the book series, would be involved in the production, which was neither confirmed nor denied by the Lionsgate executive.
There is no release date, nor further information about the cast, directing team or writers.
At the Morgan Stanley conference, Burns also indicated that he will expand the “John Wick” universe into a new series.
“We are going to take one of our biggest action franchises, starring Keany Reeves, into a television series,” he declared.
The franchise, which launched the careers of Hollywood stars; Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, features five films: “Twilight” (2008), “New Moon” (2009), “Eclipse” (2010), “Breaking Dawn – Part 1 (2011) and Breaking Dawn – Part 2 ( 2012).
The film series grossed more than $3.3 billion at the box office around the world and was a worldwide success.
