Twitch launched an endless series. It is generated by DALL-E and ChatGPT neural networks

Somewhere in the middle of December last year, a series appeared on the Twitch platform, which is broadcast endlessly. It is called Nothing, Forever, and its peculiarity lies in the fact that it is completely (with the exception of some musical cues and audience reactions) created using machine learning algorithms and artificial intelligence. For replicas, the ChatGPT neural network is used, and DALL-E is responsible for the pictures. Stable Diffusion and Azure Cognitive Services are also involved in the work, and the Unity game engine “revives” all this.

The series was based on the American sitcom Seinfeld, which ran from 1989 to 1998. At the time of publication of the news, Nothing, Forever is watched by an average of 2,500 viewers at the same time. Locations often change, the action takes place in different apartments, and all this is sometimes interrupted by the stand-up performance of the main character – Larry. Conversations usually start with the same clue points, but can continue anywhere. When the dialogue ends, the characters sometimes freeze for a minute and there is silence. It happens that they really joke and have a meaningful conversation, but in most cases this is some kind of nonsense. As for the picture, it resembles 8-bit graphics.

Show creator Skyler Hartle, who works at Microsoft Azure as a product manager building tools for software developers, was inspired by David Lynch’s short film Rabbits. Nothing, Forever has been in development for four years now, starting out as a simple art project but then turning into a tech art project. The 3D objects in the series are pre-created and the movements are hard-coded. Movements around the room and points of interaction happen randomly, so no one knows where the characters will end up. In this regard, incidents occur when the camera is blocked by a refrigerator or a door opens in front of it.

Hartl believes that such projects are the future, and the media will be built on this. You can watch Nothing, Forever show here.
