Elon Musk’s full message to Twitter employees

Club,

In an effort to get Twitter on a healthy path, we’ll be going through the difficult process of downsizing our workforce globally on Friday. We recognize that this will affect some people who make valuable contributions to Twitter, but this action is unfortunately necessary to ensure the company’s success going forward.

Given the nature of our distributed workforce and our desire to notify affected individuals as quickly as possible, communication for this process will be via email.

Until 9 a.m. on Friday November 4th, everyone will receive an individual email with the subject: Your role on Twitter. Check your email, including your spam folder.

If your employment is not affected, you will receive a notification via your Twitter email.
If your employment is affected, you will receive a notification with next steps via your personal email.
If you do not receive an email from [email protected] by 17:00 on Friday 4th November, please email xxxxxxxx.

To ensure the security of each employee, as well as Twitter’s systems and customer data, our offices will be temporarily closed and all work card access will be suspended. If you are in an office or on your way to an office, please go home.

We recognize that this is an incredibly difficult experience to go through, whether you are affected or not. Thank you for continuing to adhere to Twitter’s policies prohibiting you from discussing confidential company information on social media, with the press or elsewhere.

We appreciate your input on Twitter and your patience as we move through this process.

Thanks.

Employees respond with appeals

During the night of Thursday into today Friday, a group of five employees, who had just been fired, filed a lawsuit against Twitter arguing that the group did not comply with the 60-day deadline provided by the law in the case of mass layoffs (Warn Act). , according to the text of the appeal which was received also to the knowledge of AFP.

“The current dismissal process is a farce and a disgrace. Tesla executives make decisions about people they know nothing about except the number of lines of code they produce. It’s completely absurd,” Taylor Leese, the engineering team manager who said he was fired, tweeted on Sunday.

On Thursday, more and more network employees were expressing their frustration or making jokes.

“The massive ones layoffs they’re not done yet, yet everyone on Twitter has already lost their jobs. The work that was described in their contract, the work that they loved, the work with all the colleagues that they knew and valued,” noted Ellie Sootze, a Twitter IT in London, according to her profile.

“It’s the beginning of a blank page on whatever side you’re on,” he added.

The move confirms the widely expected change in corporate culture for the California-based company under Elon Musk.

Several executives resigned this week while more than 700 workers had already left voluntarily over the summer, according to an employee.

“If it doesn’t apply to you, you’ll get a notification to your Twitter email address. If this applies to you, you will be notified of the next steps at your personal email address,” reads the message sent to Twitter employees yesterday, reminding everyone to check their inbox, “including spam.”
