The social network Twitter has released 140 non-fungible tokens (NFT) on Ethereum, which it distributed to its users for free. Tokens are already available on the Rarible platform.
Collectible Tokens
presented in 7 types, each of which is issued in 20 copies. They are designed as interactive images related to Twitter. The first NFT is called First Born. It features a Tamagotchi toy displaying Twitter founder Jack Dorsey’s first tweet, “Just Setting Up My Twttr,” posted on March 21, 2006.
As a reminder, Dorsey put this tweet up for sale as an NFT in March. It was bought by the CEO of the Malaysian startup Bridge Oracle, Sina Estavi, for $ 2.5 million.
In subsequent tweets, Twitter introduced the NFT “Vitamin T”, which is depicted as a can filled with blue pills with the Twitter logo. Also “Reply Guy” with the image of the statue stood out. Here is a reference to a disgruntled user who leaves a lot of comments, most of which are negative.
Other NFTs include Furry Twitter in the form of a furry bird with the slogan “Like but don’t touch” and “Twitter jelly”. Its message is that a person is what he publishes. NFT “Building Characters” shows a muscle bird trying to lift a 140kg dumbbell – that many characters fit in one tweet.
The Twitter management announced that the social network distributes these NFTs for free. To get them, you had to leave a comment under the Twitter post about the launch of your own unique tokens. They already
available on the Rarible platform, and users started putting them up for auction for sale.
NFTs gained popularity among many celebrities who started issuing their own tokens. For example, this month auction house Sotheby’s put up for sale an NFT containing the original source code for the basic Internet protocols written by British scientist Tim Berners-Lee in 1989.
