Twitter has got what other social networks lack: a ban on @mentions

Following the official announcement of the long-awaited tweet editing button, social network Twitter has launched another new feature aimed at improving user experience. The platform began experimenting with a ban on @mentions – an innovation that allows you to remove a link to your nickname from a specific tweet and quickly leave the entire correspondence.

Currently, the function is already available, but not yet massively, but only to some Twitter users. It works on the web version of twitter.com. The test group can find a special “Leave this conversation” item in the tweet menu with their mention, which is opened through the button in the form of an ellipsis (“⋯”) in the upper right corner.

The first time you use the ability, the social network shows a tooltip telling you exactly what it means to block @mentions. As described, the username will be removed from the original Tweet and all subsequent replies, and will remain visible in the post (in an inactive format). In addition, other Twitter users will not be able to re-mention the banned account in the same conversation. The user himself will no longer receive further notifications about the thread.

However, today, April 8, the Twitter team announced that the new ALT (alternative text) icon and open image descriptions have appeared for users around the world. They have earned both in the desktop version and in mobile applications for Android and iOS.
