Twitter is testing the use of NFTs as profile images

The developers of the popular social network Twitter have begun testing the use of NFTs as images for user profiles. This feature is only available on the app for Apple devices.

About feature testing developers reported on a Twitter Blue account is a $2.99 subscription that gives users access to new features. To use NFT as a profile picture, the user needs to connect a compatible wallet containing a collectible token.

Supported wallets are Coinbase Wallet, MetaMask, Rainbow, Argent, Trust and Ledger Live. The image itself will be inscribed in a hexagon to highlight the use of NFTs from the usual round avatars.

“Installing the NFT image will allow you to associate your Twitter account with the connected cryptocurrency address. That is, your account will be able to be associated with your current and early cryptocurrency transactions and assets, including other NFTs in the wallet, because data in public blockchains is open to everyone,” the developers write.

The message emphasizes that Twitter will not attempt to access or withdraw funds from the user’s wallet. However, you should be wary of scammers who may try to deceive the user and gain access to assets.

The fact that for the image on the avatars of users it will be possible to use NFT, it became known back in September last year. Twitter also supports bitcoin payments via the Lightning Network for “tips” to users.
