Twitter to call Elon Musk to testify next week

Twitter is expected to summon Elon Musk to testify on September 26 and 27 as part of ongoing litigation over its $44 billion takeover deal, according to a court filing.

The co-founder and former CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, is expected to be called to testify on Tuesday (20) by lawyers for the company and Musk.

The two testimonials are the latest sign that the legal battle between Musk and Twitter is heating up.

Peiter Zatko, a former Twitter security chief turned whistleblower, is also expected to be ousted earlier this month.

Zatko accused the company of serious security vulnerabilities that put its users, investors and US national security at risk.

Twitter said Zatko’s claims paint a “false narrative” by the company and that Musk’s claims are “factually inaccurate, legally insufficient and commercially irrelevant”.

In July, Musk decided to terminate the settlement over allegations that the company misrepresented the number of fake and spam accounts on its platform, and Twitter quickly sued Musk to comply with the settlement.

The two parties are due to begin a five-day trial on October 17.
