A Twitter software engineer posted a video showing the NFT confirmation function for a user’s account avatar.
According to the video, which was prepared for the first time published
on Twitter by social networking software engineer Mada Aflak, the NFT option will appear in the user’s profile.
The Twitter profile can be connected to a cryptocurrency wallet – in the video, these were Coinbase, Trust, Argent and Metamask wallets, and then download all your NFTs from OpenSea. After selecting one of them as an avatar, a blue Ethereum icon will appear next to the profile name, similar to the one received by verified Twitter users.
Aflak emphasized in the video that it was just an experiment with a mockup, and in the future everything could change. The use of NFTs as avatars on Twitter has skyrocketed in the past six months, making the addition of a confirmation system to Twitter a valuable feature.
Last week, social networking site Twitter announced support for Bitcoin payments to reward users. While the feature is available in the iOS client, it will soon be available on Android.
