Two American hostages were released by Hamas, sources say

Two American hostages, a mother and her daughter, are being freed after being taken hostage by the radical Islamic group Hamas, according to reports from a person familiar with the negotiations and a diplomatic source.

The two were handed over to the Red Cross and the release took place for “humanitarian reasons”, as the mother’s health is weak. It is unclear whether they will leave Gaza for Egypt or Israel.

It is the result of negotiations between Qatar and Hamas, which began after the extremist organization kidnapped around 200 people in the surprise attack on Israel on October 7.

“In response to Qatari efforts, Al-Qassam Brigades released two American citizens (a mother and her daughter) for humanitarian reasons and to prove to the American people and the world that the allegations made by Joe Biden and his fascist administration are false. and unfounded,” Hamas spokesman Abu Obaida said in a statement.

The White House and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office had no comment. A CNN try to contact the Red Cross.
