“This news is heartbreaking for all of us,” Delta said in a statement, adding that the incident occurred at the wheel and brake shop but without giving further details.
Atlanta’s WSB-TV, citing sources, previously said a Delta employee and a contractor died when a plane’s tire exploded while it was being removed.
The aircraft arrived from Las Vegas on Sunday (25), the station said, citing flight information.
The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration told Reuters it was opening an investigation. The Federal Aviation Administration said it was in contact with Delta about the matter.
