Two hospitals under siege in northern Gaza Strip – Staff and patients at risk

The operation of the two hospitals on the northern side of the Gaza Strip is threatened due to the fierce clashes between Hamas and Israel, UN officials and an NGO warned yesterday. Al Audah hospital, not far from the Jabalia refugee camp, was besieged for the third day in a row, its director-general, Dr. Mohammad Saleh. He spoke of Israeli armed forces firing at hospital buildings and “snipers” present “around it and in neighboring houses”. “Medical staff and patients are inside the hospital. Their movement from one service to another and from one hospital building to another is extremely difficult”, he underlined.
