Two men are arrested in an operation against the union between militia and drug trafficking in RJ

The Civil Police arrested, on Monday afternoon (8), two men identified as members of Luis Antonio da Silva Braga's militia, known as Zinho. The arrests took place during investigations by the Narcotics Repression Police Station (DRE) and the 22nd DP (Penha) to confirm information about the union of the Zinho militia with drug traffickers from Comando Vermelho. Zinho had 12 outstanding arrest warrants and had been on the run since 2018. After negotiations, he presented himself to the Federal Police Regional Superintendence in Rio de Janeiro, on Christmas Eve.

Daniel dos Santos Campelo, known as Di Pedra, aged 18, and Caio Souza da Silva, aged 28, were arrested in the Cesar Maia community, in the Camorim neighborhood, in Jacarepaguá, in the West Zone of Rio.

According to the Civil Police, when agents entered the community they found a cloned white Fiat Mobi vehicle suspected of being tampered with. People who were nearby informed the police of the house where those responsible for the vehicle were located. Military clothing and vest covers were found at the scene. When questioned, Daniel and Caio confessed that they were part of the militia. The police also seized rifle ammunition, a pistol and a rifle magazine.

The suspects were taken to the DRE headquarters, in the Police City, in Jacarezinho, in the North Zone, and then taken to the Penitentiary Administration Secretariat. They will answer for the crimes of receiving, criminal association and possession of firearms and ammunition.

The DRE asks that reports about drug trafficking and organized crime be made by calling (21) 98596-7485. Confidentiality is guaranteed.
