A forensic examination conducted on the corpses of two men from Azerbaijan, who died last week after being arrested by Russian police, concluded that they had been beaten to death, according to a forensic investigator at the prosecutor. The deaths of men, who were brothers – Ziyadin and Hussein Safarov – have intensified Moscow and Baku diplomatic relations – and led to arrests on both sides for reasons of revenge on Russian correspondents in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Russia was summoned to the Foreign Ministry in Moscow today to receive an official protest due to Baku’s “non -friendly actions” and the “illegal detention” of journalists.
