The images from the village of São Lourenço do Bairro in Portugalas its streets were “flooded” by 2.2 million liters of wine.
The “flood” from the abundant wine occurred when two huge wine vats broke in a distillery in the small village of central Portugal, where about 2,000 inhabitants live.

Furthermore, there were fears it could contaminate a nearby riverCertima, but local authorities said they were able to prevent this from happening.
The local Fire Service managed to divert the wine away from the river to a nearby field, local media reported.
The distillery, Levira, apologized for the damage and said it took full responsibility for the unusual accident.
“The causes of the incident are being investigated by the competent authorities. We are fully committed to cover the costs associated with cleaning up and repairing the damage, with teams ready to act immediately. We are committed to resolving this situation as soon as possible,” the company said in a statement.
