Two Palestinians died after Israeli military vehicles blocked the entrance to the hospital in Jenin, in the occupied West Bank, denying patients access to treatment for their injuries, according to Dr. Christos Christou, international president of Doctors Without Borders (MSF).
“For two hours, we were unable to leave to provide care, and people could not reach us as Israeli military vehicles blocked the hospital entrance and the road, preventing ambulances from leaving,” wrote Christou on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Christou said he was visiting MSF staff at Khalil Suleiman Hospital in Jenin, in the occupied West Bank, when the “Israeli army conducted a raid on the Jenin refugee camp.”
“This must stop now. Patients must have access to healthcare at all times,” Christou wrote.
“There is nothing worse for a doctor to know that there are people who need our care and who cannot access it”, highlighted the president in the publication.
This Tuesday (28), the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) told CNN that clashes continued in Jenin.
“The IDF is conducting counter-terrorism activities in the area,” the military said, adding that it would not provide further details until the operations were concluded.
