The Civil Police indicted this Tuesday (21) the owner of the vessel and the sailor who was driving the boat that exploded in Cabo Frio (RJ) in June 2024, leaving two people dead. Ten of them tourists were injured.

According to the police investigation, the accident was caused by the replacement of the tank cap and excess fuel when refueling. Those charged will be charged with two manslaughters, five bodily injuries, arson and attacks on maritime safety.

Agents from the Cabo Frio police station also found that the vessel did not have insurance and, in July 2024, the Court accepted the request to freeze the assets of those responsible for the accident with the purpose of guaranteeing compensation and preventing those under investigation from transferring their assets. to third parties.

In addition to freezing assets, the Court ordered the blocking of R$450,000 in accounts.
