Two Ukrainians arrested in Georgia for illegal explosives

Georgia authorities today announced the arrest of two Ukrainians accused of illegally introducing strong explosives from neighboring Turkey. According to security services, a “vehicle carrying 2.4kg of cyclone” was identified. It is a strong explosive material that has widespread military use and is also known as RDX. “State security services and the interior ministry arrested two Ukrainian citizens” in this case, as announced at a press conference. The Georgian authorities have not disclosed details of the intentions of the two detainees, stating that an investigation is currently undergoing “illegal possession and transportation of explosives”. The Government of Georgia is accused by its critics of seeking closer ties with Russia.
