Two women were arrested last Sunday (9) for selling mattresses donated to families homeless by flooding that affected the Pantanal Garden, a neighborhood located in the East Zone of São Paulo. According to the city, the sale of mattresses was made over the internet.
Given the facts, the Military Police were called to meet the occurrence. The agents were anonymously informed about the illegal marketing of mattresses donated by the São Miguel Paulista Subprefecture.
According to investigations carried out by the Civil Police, the subprefecture had passed six mattresses to residents of the Pantanal Jardim region. Of the six, two would have been sold by the detainees and the other four were seized.
In the police action, one of the women was identified and confessed to selling the objects. She also claimed to police that she did not know that the sale of the mattresses was prohibited.
