The Military Police will open a procedure to investigate the circumstances of the death of two young people during a chase in the early hours of this Saturday (16), in the south zone of Rio de Janeiro.
According to the PM, agents from the Botafogo Battalion (2nd BPM) signaled to stop a couple on a motorcycle, but the driver did not obey the order and fled the scene. Then a chase began.
According to the corporation, a siege was carried out on a busy corner in the Flamengo neighborhood. The motorcyclist hit the curb and, after the impact, ended up hitting a pedestrian. The young woman who was on the back of the motorcycle died instantly. She was 17 years old and her body was sent by the Fire Department to the Legal Medical Institute (IML).
The driver of one of the police teams also lost control of the wheel and crashed into a pole. The injured driver and police officers were taken to the Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital, in Leblon, also in the south zone. The pedestrian was taken to the Souza Aguiar Municipal Hospital, in the Center.
The two police officers, with minor injuries, were released. The motorcyclist, identified as José Jacksandro Queiroz, aged 18, succumbed to his injuries and died in the unit. On social media, the boy's relatives and friends posted farewell messages. “I love you forever brother. May God have him in a good place, pray for us from above”, wrote one of them.
“Our family has always been like this. One for all and all for one. Today is definitely being a more difficult day for our family. But God is comforting and will continue to comfort us as we bear this loss. I love you!”, posted another relative of the young man.
The boy's burial will be this Sunday afternoon (17), at the São Francisco Xavier Cemetery.

The case was forwarded to the Catete police station (9th DP). According to the Civil Police, efforts are underway to investigate the facts.
