U.S. Congresswoman Marie Newman buys shares in GBTC and Coinbase

Illinois Democratic Party spokeswoman Marie Newman announced the acquisition of over $ 200,000 in GBTC and COIN from November to December.

According to reports filed by Marie Newman on December 8 in the U.S. House of Representatives, the politician
acquired Grayscale Bitcoin Trust shares in the amount of $ 15,000 to $ 50,000 in the period from November 9 to December 4. In addition, in November and December, she made four purchases of Coinbase COIN shares for up to $ 215,000.

Under US law, senators and senior US officials are allowed to trade stocks and other assets during their tenure. If their annual income exceeds $ 119,554, they are required to disclose certain financial transactions within 30–45 days. This includes buying and selling any stocks, bonds, futures and other securities if the transaction amount exceeds $ 1,000.

An interesting fact – Congresswoman Marie Newman still hasn’t advertised her commitment to the cryptoindustry, as Senator Cynthia Lummis has done more than once.

According to
data, compiled from financial disclosure reports provided by senators and senior U.S. officials on Bitcoinpolitician.org, six members of Congress already own cryptocurrencies or are involved in the crypto industry. This list includes Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis, Texas Representative Michael McCaul, Pennsylvania Pat Toomey, Alabama Barry Moore, Jersey Jefferson Van Drew Van Drew, from Florida Michael Waltz.
