The eighth edition of award promoted by the Brazilian Union of Composers (UBC) happened on Wednesday night (4), in São Paulo. The event hpaid homage to Rita Lee and Roberto de Carvalho for his contribution to Brazilian music.
This was the first edition of the award – traditionally held in Rio de Janeiro – celebrated in São Paulo.
Throughout the ceremony, several artists from different generations of Brazilian music performed classics by the duo, including Pitty, Fernanda Abreu, Zé Ibarra, Léo Jaime, among others. The closing ceremony featured a collective performance that brought together all the musicians on stage to sing “Lança Perfume”.
The event featured a script written by Nelson Motta and artistic direction by Beto Lee, in addition to Rita Lee’s band accompanying the musical performances throughout the night.
The UBC Award was created in 2017 to honor and recognize the talent of great names in Brazilian music, such as Gilberto Gil, Milton Nascimento and Caetano Veloso.
