UBE stabilizes results and fights the virus with an investment of 49 million euros

The Japanese chemical company UBE Corporation Europe, based in Castellón, look optimistically to the future despite the pandemic global coronavirus health. 2019 results

The 2019 results show the beginning of a some cooling after two good years due to the global situation, “said the president of UBE.

Specifically, the Japanese chemical company achieved consolidated sales of 428 million euros and a profit after tax of 19 million euros in its 2019 financial year.

Stable employment

The president of UBE, Bruno de BiÚvre, also emphasized the employment generated by the company in the province of Castellón as well as its stability.

The group of Japanese origin directly employs 597 people, of which 539 are in the province of Castellón, with a 22% female employment and more than one 95% of permanent contracts.

In addition, during fiscal year 2019, the Japanese chemical company UBE has subcontracted daily services with a monthly average equivalent to approximately 250 full-time jobs.

Special mention was also made of the creation by UBE at the end of last January of a committee for permanent monitoring of the crisis caused by Covid-19 and the adoption of the necessary measures to guarantee the health and protection of all its own personnel and that of its contractors and related companies, as well as to ensure the continuity of its operations and service to clients.

In this sense, it should be remembered that since the chemical sector is officially classified as a strategic activity, UBE maintained its normal functioning during the first state of alarm that was decreed by the Government last March.

Investment plan

In relation to the current UBE fiscal year, which will end on March 31, 2021, andl impact of the pandemic and its effect on global markets has been felt with relative intensity since April, although the company maintains your investment plan for the 2019-2021 triennium, with a forecast of 60 million for the Castellón and Almassora production centers, of which more than 11 have materialized during the last year.
