Uber announced on Tuesday (24) that it will accept payment by Pix for trips across the national territory. According to the company, payment will be made directly to the platform – not to the driver partner.
Although the alternative has been available since the beginning of May for most users, it should be expanded to everyone by the beginning of June.
In addition to paying for rides, passengers can also pay off debts or buy Uber Cash credits – Uber’s prepaid system, which allows you to add a balance in the app – through Pix.
How it works
When requesting the trip, the user must choose the Pix payment option. Upon confirming the order, the app will redirect the passenger to a page where a Pix code will be generated.
To make the payment, simply copy the code and use it in your bank’s application. Once the transaction is confirmed, the travel order is confirmed.
When the value of the trip is higher than expected, the passenger is left with a balance payable in Uber Wallet. This can be paid after the trip with any payment method, including Pix.
If the trip is cancelled, the amount is refunded immediately, directly to the passenger’s account. If there is a cancellation with a fee, the Pix chargeback is made with the deducted amount, however, in Uber Cash.
As Pix is made before the trip starts, it is not possible to change the payment method.
Uber advises against paying Pix outside the app directly to the driver partner.
Regarding tips, it is not yet possible to pay the extra amount with Pix.
