Uber resumes shared trips in the United States under the name “UberX Share”

After suspending shared travel due to the coronavirus pandemic, Uber returned to the shared travel modality in the United States, now with a new name: “UberX Share”.

The company’s vice president posted on Twitter that “after 609 days, shared travel is back in the US. We build a new experience that is more efficient and sustainable for passengers, drivers and the cities we serve.”

Miami is the first region to test the new model.

The new structure aims to offer a cheaper ride. Passengers will have a 5% discount, and if another customer enters midway, the first will receive “Uber Cash”, a credit system to be spent on future trips.

To share the car, however, everyone must follow the protocols against Covid-19, such as wearing a mask, even if they are vaccinated.

According to the CNN Agency, 58.9% of Americans are already fully immunized. According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 195,612,365 people have completed their vaccination course.

There is no forecast for the return of shared trips to other regions yet. In Brazil, the model was known as “Uber Pool”.
