A “strange light” in the sky caught the attention of pilots on a flight from São Paulo to Porto Alegre last Saturday (22). The incident was recorded in a conversation between the crew of an Azul flight and professionals from Porto Alegre’s Salgado Filho International Airport.
In the dialogue, the pilots claim to have seen a light similar to that of an airplane headlight. However, air traffic control claims that there were no other aircraft in the region according to the radars. In technical language, observations of this type are considered “unidentified flying objects” or UFOs.
THE CNN contacted Azul, which replied in a note that crew members follow strict safety protocols and that any eventuality is immediately communicated to air traffic control. The company also said that the incident was reported to authorities.
The audio was published on Youtube on an unofficial airport channel, which captures from a camera installed in a building about 2.8 km from Porto Alegre airport.
In the audio, it is possible to identify that airport technicians ask the crew to inform when the lights go out. The pilots report that the light disappears and appears again and that there is no traffic circuit pattern, considered “random” movement by the crew.
According to the pilots, the light follows the side of the aircraft for a while until it moves away towards Lagoa da Conceição in Florianópolis.
