According to the university, when he was aware of the deputy dean and security coordinator approached the student, identified as Vinícius Krug de Souza, who was forming in the Minas Engineering course, and banned him from participating in the collation of degree with the swastika on the face.
The student claimed that the symbol was a Hindu image, But he was warned that if he did not erase the painting, he would be referred to the Federal Police to record occurrence.
Given the warning, the Student agreed to delete the swastika and remained at the ceremony with other symbols unrelated to Nazism.
UFRGS has reported that it will register a police report at the Federal Police on Wednesday (19), and will analyze the administrative measures that can be taken.

The entity required the annulment of the delivery of the diploma and the graduation of student Vinícius Krug de Souza, reaffirming that the apology to Nazism is a crime. UNE also charged a rigorous investigation of the case so that similar episodes do not repeat themselves.
Apology for Nazism is a crime in Brazil, provided for in Law No. 7.716/89, with a penalty of imprisonment of two to five years and a fine. The law considers a crime “manufacturing, marketing, distributing or disclosing symbols, emblems, ornaments or advertising that use Suastic or Sastic Cross for the purposes of disseminating Nazism ”.
