UK government is about to invest 4 billion pounds to create new green jobs

The government released a 10 point plan inciting that the UK shall become carbon neutral by the year 2050 in a Tuesday statement.

The statement discussed the jobs that the green industrial revolution can bring about and prevent the further downfall of the institutions from industrial decline.

The government will invest immensely in the project aiming to capture and store emitted carbon and help with the development of such a project.

In the conservative party conference, the prime minister also announced an investment in the offshore wind project.

The homes will be made more energy efficient in the upcoming project. They are one of the biggest emitters of carbon, and the government will provide grants to make homes more efficient in energy usage. The project will hopefully create new jobs for the people.

The replacement source of energy is thought to be nuclear energy, and the government will invest in hydrogen power in the last phases of the project.

The government gave a thumbs up to the new nuclear power station being built at Sizewell in Suffolk in October. The statement for its approval came in after the projects for power stations at Anglesey and Cumbria fell apart as the Japanese companies Hitachi and Toshiba pulled out of the project.

It is estimated that the investment of 4 billion pounds is merely a small downpayment for a much more considerable mammoth amount of 1 trillion pounds, which this project will eventually require if it commences. The project will take a total of 30 years to finish.

The plan to make the environment carbon-neutral has been in motion for several decades now in the country. The car companies have prepared themselves to transition from diesel and petrol to an all green source by making more hybrid cars.

Companies like Bentley have made plans to make only electric cars by 2030, and their transition has begun with the release of their first hybrid model.

The hybrid engines can work with both the power sources, diesel, and batteries will stay in function for the next 15 years till 2035, after which the electric cars will take over.

The sale of petrol and diesel will eventually diminish in the coming decades in the UK, and soon enough, they will be banned. The ban was first announced in 2017 as a plan to clean up the air pollution in the country, which had hit dangerous levels.

The ban was meant to take place in the next two decades, and by 2040, it was expected that there would be no petrol or diesel vendors in the country.

The target was bought forward by five years in February of 2020, and it was expected that the transition would be completed by 2035. The UK government has sought to burnish the country’s environmental credentials by the UN’s climate summit in Glasgow.

Government Holding Summit To Promote the Ban

The summit was postponed earlier, but now it seems like it can happen at the designated time and place. The conference is expected to be held as mentioned.

The chief executive for the Society of Motto manufacturers and traders, Mike Hawes, said that the government’s meeting will require serious support for the industry and that the vendors will need aid to reach the target mentioned above.

Cleaning the environment is an excellent initiative for the people and the UK’s inhabitants; however, the steps and government’s help required to make the transition is of paramount importance. The government plans to aid in the project. However, the support needed is estimated to be much larger than the government promises. Will the project go on as planned, and will the country have cleaner air? Only time will tell.

UK’s efforts to make the environment green again are appreciated but the investment required may become a hindrance.
