Activity in the UK industrial sector slowed slightly in Julyaccording to the latest data published on Wednesday by the National Statistics Office (ONS).
Manufacturing output fell 0.8% mom in Julycompared to -1.0% expected and 2.4% in June, while Total industrial production stood at -0.7% MoMcompared to the -0.6% expected and the previous 1.8%.
On a year-on-year basis, UK manufacturing data rose 3.0% in Julyexceeding expectations of 2.7%. Total industrial production increased by 0.4% in the seventh month of the year, below forecast growth of 0.5% and below the previous reading of 0.7%.
On the other hand, the figures for the UK goods trade balance, which stood at £14,064 million in July, compared to £16 billion expected and the 15,455 million pounds of the previous month. The total trade balance (non-EU) stood at 2,361 million pounds in July, compared to 2,772 million in June.
