Scottish police have arrested SNP MP Margaret Ferrier on charges of violating COVID-19 rules after traveling by train from England to Scotland at the end of September, having tested positive. Reported by Reuters.
“We can confirm that officers today arrested 60-year-old Ferrier and charged her with alleged criminal and reckless behavior,” a Scottish Police spokeswoman said.
Ferrier took the coronavirus test on Saturday 26 September after feeling “mild symptoms”, but on Monday 28 September she went to London because she was feeling better.
The MP spoke in the House of Commons at the debate on the coronavirus, and in the evening received a positive test result. In the morning she boarded the train and returned to Scotland.
After that, Ferrier was removed from membership in the SNP (Scottish National Party).
